Living Your Truth

One of the easiest ways to tell you are not living your authentic life, your truth, is that you find yourself surrounded by people that don’t “get” you, and at events that make you feel disconnected from yourself. That feeling that you have to put on a good show or act in a certain way—when inside you are feeling something entirely different—is your truth begging to be set free.

The article "Stop Being Who You Aren't" by Michael Ashcroft discusses the importance of being authentic and living your truth. Ashcroft argues that  that we all have a unique purpose in life, and that we should all be living our lives in a way that is true to ourselves, which will result in filling our lives with the people who appreciate us for ourselves, and not for whatever image we might project.

This is a powerful message, and one that is worth considering. Too often, we try to fit in and to be what we think others want us to be. We put on masks and we pretend to be someone we're not. But this is a recipe for unhappiness. If we are not living our lives authentically, we are not living our best lives. We are not fulfilling our potential, and we are not making the most of our time on this planet. And as a result, we find ourselves surrounded by people who don’t really understand us, or those who are not willing to participate in our lives as we want to live.
